René Magritte is an artist I admire. His paintings challenge the viewers’ perception of reality by featuring objects in his paintings under a different context, giving new meaning to familiar things.

Anastasia Revis’ work makes me think of theatre in the same way. Her directional skills are deeply rooted to human emotion but she often uses unconditional theatre imagery to intrigue the senses. Set design tricks or a simple gesture can direct the mind to think in unfamiliar ways. I feel privileged to be a good friend and colleague of Anastasia.

I see this picture as a result of our long time collaboration and the influence her work has had on me.

Lifo, an online publication in Greece, commissioned Anastasia Revis’ portrait to run along an interview with the director talking about the Salomé production that is presented in Athens in a few days.

Salomé by Oscar Wilde

Following last season's sold out performances in London, "Salome", travels to Athens, Greece.

Decadence, sensuality, beauty, envy, the words of a prophet, a mother's jealousy, a young girl's overwhelming desire, a stepfather's lustful demand and a dance that turns the moon red.

Strange Factories

Strange Factories

The feature film Strange Factories that I was the Director of Hhotography is being relased this Saturday 26th October at the Cinema Museum London in a unique experience that fuses cinema with theatre.

Victor is a writer, possessed by a terrifying story, hunting for refugee performers of a theatre destroyed in a mysterious fire. Drawn to a remote settlement founded by the mysterious Stronheim, he finds his friends under the wing of an aristocratic noble and her childlike ward. A dangerous pact is made between Victor and Stronheim: The destroyed theatre will be reconstructed, and in return, Victor must complete his story — no matter the cost.

Written and directed by John Harrigan of Foolish People.

One picture per month is a monthly mini newsletter by photographer Yiannis Katsaris. We are not a big company so don't expect endless news emails. The newsletter will feature one of Yiannis' recent pictures or one from his archive. If Yiannis is lucky enough to have his pictures exhibited, published or something worth mentioning you will receive these updates too. This communication platform aims to be a gift in your inbox rather than a traditional newsletter.
